I believe local government works best when it listens first, plans responsibly, and delivers practical results.
That’s why I’m running for Kelowna City Council. My career has been built on service; as an educator, farmer, former firefighter, small business owner, and Regional Director for the East Electoral Area. Those experiences have taught me the importance of listening, building partnerships, and making practical decisions that strengthen our communities.
Community service doesn’t end when the workday is over—it’s a commitment I carry into every part of my life. My wife, Kendra, and I are proud to be raising our three children in Kelowna, and their future is one of the reasons I’m running. I believe City Hall should focus on reliable core services, support local businesses, protect agriculture, and make transparent, accountable decisions that put residents first.
Together, we can build a Kelowna where families put down roots, businesses succeed, and future generations have every opportunity to thrive.

WHAT SETS KEVIN APART
Kevin Kraft isn’t a politician who decided to serve his community. He’s a community servant who decided to run for politics.
Kevin’s commitment to public service didn’t begin in government. Throughout his career as a firefighter, educator, and community partnership leader, he has worked to strengthen communities, support families, and bring people together to solve challenges. Those experiences continue to shape the values and practical approach he brings to public office today.
Kevin has spent years working alongside local businesses, farmers, and community organizations, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities facing Kelowna. He understands the impact of regulations, rising costs, and the importance of creating an environment where local businesses can grow, agriculture is protected, and families have the opportunity to thrive. As a husband and father, those priorities are personal, and they continue to shape his approach to public service.
As the East Electoral Area Director for the Regional District of Central Okanagan, Kevin already understands how local and regional government work together. He has experience making important decisions, collaborating with partner agencies, and building trusted relationships with municipal, regional, provincial, and community leaders. If elected to Kelowna City Council, he’ll be ready to get to work from day one.
Kevin doesn’t bring a traditional political background to council. He brings a lifetime of public service, practical leadership, and a genuine commitment to the people and communities he serves.
PLATFORM
Public Safety & Crime
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home, their neighbourhood, and their community. Kelowna's challenges with crime, addiction, and public disorder cannot be solved by one level of government alone. It will take strong partnerships, responsible local leadership, and continued advocacy to ensure the provincial and federal governments fulfill their responsibilities for justice, mental health, and addiction services.
Kevin is committed to supporting frontline responders, strengthening community safety, and advocating for the resources and accountability needed to build safer neighbourhoods where families, businesses, and residents can thrive.
Affordable Housing and Development
A home is more than a roof over your head—it's where roots are planted, neighbours become friends, and communities are built.
Kelowna needs more housing, but we also need to think carefully about the kind of community we're creating. Growth should encourage neighbourhoods where families can put down roots, children can play safely, neighbours know one another, and local businesses thrive.
Kevin believes we should expand opportunities for attainable homeownership by supporting thoughtfully designed smaller single-family homes, townhomes, and family-oriented neighbourhoods. For many young families, owning a modest home is the first step toward building equity, stability, and a lifelong connection to the community.
Growth should strengthen Kelowna's character—not simply increase its population.
Transportation and Infrastructure
A growing city needs infrastructure that is built for tomorrow, not just today.
Like many Kelowna residents, Kevin experiences the daily frustration of traffic congestion and infrastructure bottlenecks. Whether it's getting to work or taking his family to school, sports, and community events, he understands the importance of keeping our city moving.
Growth should never outpace the infrastructure that supports it. Roads, water, utilities, and essential services all require thoughtful long-term planning and strategic investment. Kevin believes responsible growth means supporting the infrastructure above and below the ground that allows our community to thrive while ensuring existing neighbourhoods are not left behind.
Responsible growth also requires strong partnerships between all levels of government. As senior governments introduce new legislation and infrastructure requirements, they should help fund the responsibilities they ask municipalities to deliver. Protecting local taxpayers means planning wisely, advocating for fair funding, and ensuring Kelowna has the infrastructure needed to support future generations.
Agriculture and Emergency Preparedness
The strongest communities are the ones prepared to feed, protect, and support their people—today and for generations to come.
A resilient community protects and invests in the things we depend on every day—our farmland, water, infrastructure, emergency services, and local food systems. Thoughtful planning, strong partnerships, and practical solutions will help ensure Kelowna remains resilient, sustainable, and prepared for the future.
Local Economy and Small Business
When local businesses succeed, our entire community succeeds. Small businesses are more than storefronts—they create jobs, support local organizations, sponsor youth sports, invest in our communities, and help make Kelowna a place people are proud to call home. Farmers, entrepreneurs, and local businesses are the backbone of our economy and deserve an environment where they can succeed.
A strong local economy grows through collaboration, thoughtful planning, and reducing unnecessary barriers to success. Supporting local businesses, agriculture, and innovation creates opportunities, strengthens neighbourhoods, and helps ensure Kelowna remains a vibrant, resilient community for generations to come.
